Pirge Quality System

At Pirge, a culture of high quality in the production of knives has been adopted, emphasizing sharpness, rust resistance, and good design. Therefore, many controls are carried out during the production process. Pirge Quality System (PIQS) consists of five different checkpoints present in the Pirge production process. In these checkpoints, called PIQS gates, products that do not achieve the desired result in the inspections cannot pass the gate, i.e., the quality control point, and proceed to the next stage.

The main goal of PIQS is to produce flawless cutting tools with consistent excellence in every stage of knife production, providing high-quality service to our end users.

PIQS Gates:

The first of the PIQS gates, PIQS 1, includes the analysis of the steel and other materials to be used in knife production. At Pirge, all materials procured for production must pass preliminary tests before production begins. Here, the properties of the materials are measured to see if they meet the required specifications. Only materials that pass the tests are used for production.

Steel accepted into the production line and completed with cutting and heat treatments undergo PIQS 2 inspection after these stages. Here, the perfection of laser cutting, surface smoothness of the steel, and HRC hardness values are tested.

Steel completed with heat treatment undergoes PIQS 3 inspection after processes such as grinding, polishing, back and mouth opening before being stored. In this process, the steels, also known as barrels, are observed, and the correctness of the processes performed is tested. Additionally, barrels are subjected to a corrosion test just before being stored in the warehouse. In the corrosion test, barrels are immersed in a solution containing high concentrations of salt to measure their resistance to rust. Barrels that pass all tests up to this point are approved to continue in the production process.

After steel craftsmanship is completed, handle craftsmanship begins. Knives with plastic or wooden handles undergo sharpening processes. PIQS 4 inspection is carried out after these processes. Here, handle craftsmanship and sharpening quality are particularly checked.

Finally, after the knives are laser-printed with the brand, production is completed. Knives, packaged and ready for sale, undergo PIQS 5 inspection in predetermined quantities and at specific intervals. Here, final checks are conducted before the product reaches the end user to ensure that Pirge quality reaches every user with the same excellence.

In the quality control process consisting of five different stages, if any product fails to pass the quality control tests, the entire series to which that product belongs is re-inspected to ensure the production of high-quality products.
